Sparkle Like Never Before With Staten Island’s Most Effective Teeth Whitening Solutions

Discover top teeth whitening solutions in Staten Island at Healthy Smiles – where we offer in-office and at-home treatments for a brighter and whiter smile.

A recent survey by Byte.com, published in Dec. 2022, found that nearly 7 in 10 (67%) Americans are self-conscious about their teeth, and nearly 6 in 10 (59%) Americans don’t feel beautiful when they smile.

And if you’re wondering why, there were two major reported culprits:

  • 57% of respondents wanted whiter teeth.
  • 43% of respondents wanted straighter teeth.

In our last post, we talked about Invisalign and how it can help those 43% of people who want straighter teeth – either due to crooked teeth, crowding, gap teeth, an open bite, underbite, overbite, or crossbite.

In this post, we’re going to focus on those 57% who want whiter teeth.

And we’ll start with the basics – which shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Brushing your teeth twice per day. Flossing and using mouthwash at least once per day. Avoiding foods and drinks that stain teeth (coffee, wine, soda). Regular cleanings from your local Staten Island dentist.

Doing these things will set you on a better path moving forward, but they’re not necessarily designed to whiten your teeth – especially teeth that have undergone years of discoloration, staining, and damage.

If this sounds like you, then don’t worry – Healthy Smiles is here to help!

Instant Results: Why In-Office Teeth Whitening Reigns Supreme

One of the best teeth whitening solutions we offer here at Healthy Smiles is our Philips Zoom in-office procedure – which can make your teeth up to eight shades whiter in just one 45-minute office visit.

It’s so quick that you can do it on your lunch break – and return to work with a whiter, brighter smile!

It’s safe, it’s effective, it’s fast, and nearly 99% of patients surveyed experienced little or no sensitivity during the whitening treatment – which is one of the major complaints with at-home whitening strips.

With that said, here’s how our in-office treatment works:

  1. Whitening Gel – the teeth are coated with a gel that contains 25% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which gets broken down to allow oxygen into the enamel and dentin.
  1. Zoom Light – the teeth are exposed to the WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp, which expedites the whitening process by activating the hydrogen peroxide in the gel.

This two-step process usually takes 15 minutes, but is repeated three times per treatment – hence why it takes 45 minutes total. Don’t worry – your Staten Island dentist will ensure you reach the desired shade.

Home Field Advantage: At-Home Teeth Whitening Hacks for the DIY Pro

In-office treatment is best for those who want dramatic, instant results without the risk of tooth sensitivity, but what about those who want to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own home? Are they left out?

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about you – and never will!

In fact, we have two very safe and effective take-home teeth whitening kits for you to choose from – both of which are heavily regarded as the gold standards (or, in this case, white standards) for whitening teeth.

Those two kits are brought to you by Philips Zoom and Opalescence.

They’re both unique in their own way and each have a variety of different formulations to customize the treatment, so it’s best to consult with your local dentist to determine which one is best for your smile.

1. Philips Zoom DayWhite & NiteWhite

Philips Zoom (yes, the same company that invented the Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed in-office procedure) has two quality take-home kits available – DayWhite (worn during the day) and NiteWhite (worn at night).

Here’s a quick look at the formulations for each:

  • DayWhite consists of either 9.5% hydrogen peroxide (applied twice daily for 30 minutes) or 14% hydrogen peroxide (applied twice daily for 15 minutes). Most people see results in two weeks.
  • NiteWhite consists of either 10% or 16% carbamide peroxide (applied overnight or 4-6 hours) or 22% carbamide peroxide (applied 1-2 hours nightly). Most people see results in one week.

To ensure a comfortable fit, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to create custom trays, which are then filled with the gel. For best results, we recommend combining in-office and at-home treatments.

2. Opalescence Go & Opalescence PF

Philips Zoom is the more popular brand, but don’t underestimate the power of Opalescence – which is just as safe and effective, and contains fluoride and potassium to strengthen and protect the enamel.

Much like its counterpart, Opalescence has two unique take-home kits:

  • Opalescence Go uses a Universal UltraFit™ Tray (one size fits all) and consists of either 10% hydrogen peroxide (worn for 30-60 minutes) or 15% hydrogen peroxide (worn for 15-20 minutes).
  • Opalescence PF uses a custom-made tray and consists of 10%, 15%, 20%, 35%, and 45% carbamide peroxide, which is worn between 15 minutes and 10 hours (depending on formula).

If you’re looking to take your teeth-whitening efforts to another level, Opalescence also has a daily whitening toothpaste that can whiten teeth up to two shades in as little as two weeks with daily brushing.
